Buying a 2-month-old teacup Yorkie: Will she stay small? Health risks?

Hi, i want to buy a teacup yorkshire female that is attached up in the fotos, but i dont have any idea of this dog breed. Please, i want information and characteristics about thid dog breed. The seller told me that she stays in the size that she is currently now. is that right? Noting that she is 2 months old.

Stela is very cute! At two months old, she will not be fully grown and she will have more growing to do. No dog is fully grown at two months of age, and if she is a true teacup yorkies, her weight when she's fully grown should be no more than four pounds. Teacup yorkies have a lot of health problems, and can lead to expensive vet bills. If you do want this type of dog, you need to have plenty of money set aside for vet bills. Five weeks old is too young for a small breed dog to be taken away from it's mother. They should stay with their mother until 8 weeks of age. Why was he take away so young? These tiny dogs get hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) very easily which can be life-threatening. They also don't regulate their temperature well and can become easily chilled. I suggest you find a local vet and go there for a consultation. They can give you all the information you need. He is very tiny at 1.8 pounds but that is probably a normal weight for this breed at this age. This is not really a great situation. You need a good relationship with your local vet.

What a cutie! Typically with dogs this small i recommend feeding multiple times a day to help prevent low blood sugar. I would say 4 times a day would be a great idea. They can have a fluffy puppy coat that changes as they get older. I recommend taking Penuche to a vet to make sure he gets the proper vaccines and deworming he needs. I hope that helps

Why is she still so tiny?? She’s almost 6 months old and is still smaller than my chihuahua her mother is a teacup shitzu and isn’t much bigger than my chihuahua but her father is a jack Russell who is bigger than the shitzu and my chihuahua my frein
I am wondering if she could be a different breed then you were told if you feel she is so small. As long as she isn't sick then it is just her and she may not get so big. I would like an educated guess on my pups adult size and weight. He is a Maltese mixed with Shih Tzu, currently 5 months and weighs at 6.2 pounds and around 11 inches tall at his shoulders
Unfortunately that's hard to know exactly because he is a mixed breed. Mixed dogs can some grow larger than either parent. In general, small breed puppies reach adult height around 6-8 months of age so I suspect (as a guess) he may only grown another inch or two. He will gain weight and fill out until about 8-10 months of age. I suspect he may end up around 9-10lbs. This will depend though on which parent he takes after. Maltese tend to be light boned and thin where as Shih Tzu's tend to be heavier boned and have a stockier build. Again, know this is all a guess. Sometimes puppies can be late bloomers. Your veterinarian can get a better idea based upon Comet's bone structure. I hope this helps.

My toy/miniature poodle is 6 months. Does she look like she may grow more?
Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! This information is from the AKC (American Kennel Club). Poodle weights- 4-6 pounds (toy) 10-15 pounds (miniature) This question is really hard to answer without watching and tracking Gypsy's growth and without seeing her parents and knowing what their weights were. Toy and mini poodles mature at one year of age so the next 5 1/2 months will answer your question. Her body frame may enlarge or she may just gain a little more weight. It's hard to say. Good luck

How to help my puppy to gain weight ?
It's difficult to tell from the picture, but she doesn't look too skinny, or too small to me. It would take a physical exam to make this determination though. I would question the need for her to gain weight if she was otherwise healthy and not too small for her age. As long as Stella has received appropriate parasite treatment from your vet and is getting the right amount of food, she would be expected to grow well. This is all assuming that she doesn't have any other medical issue causing her not to grow well. Your vet can help make sure that is not the case. You definitely don't want her to grow too much and too fast, because this can cause a few different bone and joint problems that can cause life-long problems. I recommend feeding her food labeled for puppies at the amount recommended on the back of the bag. This can be changed to adult dog food around 8 months of age. Make sure she also visits a vet regularly for deworming, vaccines and other preventative health care.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Cali is very cute! She will have her first heat cycle anytime now. In small breed dogs their heats usually start around 6-8 months. I would say at 6 months she is basically full grown bone wise. The only thing that may still change is her coat. I wish you the best!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! The final weight of a dog depends on breed. Large breed and giant breed dogs can grow until 2 years of age. At 4 months and weighing only 6 lbs, I would guess (without seeing a picture of your dog0 that he won't be over 15 pounds. I wish you the best!

That is interesting!!! It's likely they won't be deformed, but I am curious to see what they look like after they are born! Because your female is SO MUCH bigger than a teacup Yorkie, there's no worry about oversized puppies. Females should be mated to males smaller than they are, but not necessarily that much smaller! Hello. Puppies do best when they are adopted at 8-9 weeks of age. Take Candy ( yes, a very cute name ) to your vet within 3 days of arrival for a good health check-up & to be checked for intestinal parasites. Usually we start vaccinations at this age, with boosters at 12 & 16 weeks. Shi Tzus are very popular breeds, generally very healthy, but they do need regular grooming & brushing to prevent their coats from tangling. You should feed her the best quality puppy food you can afford for the first year of her life, spay her at 6 months if you do not plan to breed her & make sure she gets plenty of exercise.
