Why is my cat hissing at her cone-wearing sibling after the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Female | spayed | 4 years and 1 month old | 13 lbs

Hi! My cat is wearing a cone because she has a small lesion on her eye and won’t stop rubbing it. My other cat, same litter, is hissing at her since we got home from the vet. Is this normal? Will they get over it? Is there anything I can do to help?

Yes this is normal. Your cat has different scents now from being at the vet and it can be scary and overwhelming for the other cat, especially with an e collar on! Usually it only take a day or two and they adjust and go back to their normal selves. Your may take until the cone comes off since it can scare them
