My found kitten has eye discharge. What's wrong and what should I do?

I have a found an approximately one month old kitten in my backyard porch; however he has eye discharge stuck in the bottom corner of his eye. What should I give and him and do you know what it could possibly be?

Thank you for providing a picture of the kitten! It looks like he could have an eye infection or may have injured his eye. He will need to see a vet immediately for this, this is not something that can be treated at home. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. This kitten will need a health check as well, given it was found abandoned. Please take him into a vet right away. Good luck, I hope this helps!

This kitten is suffering from an eye infection, it's very common in stray kittens and many of them lose their eyes to this disease if left untreated. fortunately the treatment is quite simple, take him to the vet ASAP and your vet will prescribe antibiotic eye ointment for him, this will solve the problem within a couple weeks.

Hi, and thanks for your question. That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to infection. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. It sounds like Squeak could have an eye infection. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. Our 7 week old kitten has tow eyes with discharge. Thought it was scratched but not sure now. His brother had a scratched eye but it's healed now. Is this serious or something that will clear up?
Any eye problem is considered serious because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. It's possible that Shy does have a scratch on his eye, that can often only be visualized with a fluorescein stain. It could also be that he has an eye infection. I recommend taking him into the vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose what is causing the discharge from his eye, and can prescribe a treatment for it. Best of luck, I hope this helps.

Our cat had kittens 10 days ago one of the kittens has a yellow discharge in one of his eyes. We wipe his eye out then it comes back later. What do we do? Please help? Also how do I find a Vet? Thier eyes jousted opened.

Keep in mind that some of these infections could be contagious if that is the case with him so it would be best to proceed as soon as possible with visit to a veterinarian and to try to keep him separate from the rest of the kittens until then. I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. I found a kitten, maybe near 4 weeks or more.. no sign of the mom, and it was a hot day, I took it in and fed it cow milk thinking I was helping but as I’ve read I shouldn’t do it, when I found the cat it’s eye was shut close, I’m trying to clean it
Use a warm, wet washcloth to soak the eye for 5 to 10 minutes, then gently wipe it. Do not force it open. The yellow discharge may indicate infection which would need to be confirmed and treated by your veterinarian. You can get some KMR or similar kitten milk replace to feed the kitten. Some kitten food mix with the KMR to make a gruel or slurry can also be offered. If you plan on keeping the kitten, discuss deworming and a vaccine protocol with your veterinarian. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites and consider having the kitten tested for FeLV (feline leukemia) and FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus).

My kitten who is about 2 in a half months old eye is rolled back in one of his eyes. There was some white discharge coming out of the eye. We carefully wiped it away. We now own three cats, and have never had this happen. Our local vet is closed now.
Poor Saber Tooth! He could have a severe eye infection or he could have injured his eye. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to permanent vision loss. He does need to see a vet now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. My kitten has clearing brown discharge coming out of only one eye. He can barely open that one eye.
I can see excessive discharge in the right eye and the eye is not as open as the left one. These signs indicate something abnormal and as always with eyes I would recommend to have the eye examined by a vet. The vet will examine the different parts of the eye and make sure no foreign material present as well as stain the eye to evaluate the cornea. No, this won't go away with time, and Loki has to see a vet immediately. He could have an eye infection or could have suffered some trauma to his eye. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Azra. Eyes infections are common in young kittens, but more serious problems such as a corneal ulcer can occur. The veterinarian will examine her and likely perform some eye tests to determine the cause of her symptoms. I would recommend calling other primary care veterinarians in your area and see if she can be seen sooner. Then you can always get her records and follow up with her normal veterinarian. If this is not an option, then I would take her to an emergency veterinarian. Eye issues can advance quickly in some cases. I hope this information helps!
