My cat is hiding and acting weird. When should I take her to the vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

Hobbes deviated from her normal behavior last night. She didn’t sleep with me as is usual. This morning I found her hiding on a box in the corner of the kitchen. She then ran under the bed. Later, she was on the bed, but ran back under before I could pet her. Nothing environmentally unusual has happened to scare her or make her nervous. I’m worried bc I know this could be a sign of something wrong. How long should I wait to take her to a vet? She’s very difficult to get into a carrier, why I ask

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The behavior you describe is definitely a little unusual. Cats are actually somewhat of a prey species, so they are very good at hiding illnesses. I recommend keeping a close eye on Hobbes, and having her seen by a vet if this continues for the next 2 days or so. She should be seen sooner if you feel that she has declined or begins to show signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite. I hope this helps and that all is well!
