If my bird has his new feather growing and we were playing and it’s bleeding what do I do?

Hello. You will need to apply a styptic to stop the bleeding. If you do not have anything at home, or it will take time to purchase some, then I would recommend running your bird to a vet to have the feather dealt with professionally. Sometimes clamping the feather works, but often the entire feather needs to be plucked, & if it is not done properly, may cause undue pain to your bird & possibly damage the follicle. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
