Why are my cat's eyes dilated after bringing home a new kitten?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 11.4 lbs

My cat Harleyquinn does not like my newly adopted kitten. Harley’s eyes always seem to be dilated ever since we brought the new kitten home. Her eyes do constrict when I check her eyes with a bright light but as soon as I take the light away they go back to being dilated. Does this mean that Harley is under stress because of the new addition to our family?

She could definietly be stressed because of the new kitten. You could try Feliway spray/diffuser and Solliquin chews and see if that helps relieve any anxiety that she is feeling. https://www.feliway.com/us#redirected http://www.solliquin.com/
