My cat stopped eating and pooping for two days. What should I do?

My Cat has not eaten anything in Two days. He is usually a very hungry cat. His Stools are non-existent.

It sounds like poor Samba isn't feeling well, and he has to see a vet immediately. When a cat doesn't eat going on 72 hours, they develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. This absolutely needs to be avoided, which is why he has to see a vet right away. Anorexia is a very general sign of illness, and it could be caused by many things such as dental problems, GI obstruction, systemic illness, kidney disease, heart disease, liver disease, infection, injury, or cancer for example. The vet can diagnose what is causing the anorexia and can treat him for it. Please take him into a vet now. I hope this helps, good luck!

Lethargy and anorexia can be a common sign of many illnesses including systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. Its very concerning that he hasn't eaten for three days, as when a cat doesn't eat for over 72 hours, they develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Based on this, I am recommending you take him into a vet right away. Without treatment, he could develop a fatty liver, and it's serious he's had three days without eating. Please call a vet now to get him in to be seen asap. Best of luck.

Why is my cat not eating her food or rarely using the litter box?
If your cat is not eating at all, she needs to be seen by a vet immediately. Cats can only go a few days without eating before they suffer serious liver dysfunction. Your cat needs to be seen by your vet for an exam and bloodwork to determine the cause for your cat’s loss of appetite. Based on the findings, your vet will be able to give you a clearer picture of what is going on with your cat and be able to offer you treatment options. If she's just being picky about food but will eat some things, some cats can be that way. Try enticing your pet to eat with beef or chicken baby food that does not contain onion or garlic powder. Onion and garlic causes anemia. Warm it in the microwave for a few seconds. Stir it with your finger first to make sure there are no hot spots and that it isn't too hot. There is a cat in my neighborhood he doesn't live in my house but is always near it. And only eats the food i give him. For the past three days he is not eating anything but is only drinking water and milk. What should i do?
Not eating is quite serious for a cat, and when they don't eat going on 72 hours, they will develop a fatty liver. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment, so that has to be avoided. I would take Simba into a vet immediately to get checked out. Best of luck.

Matou hasn’t eaten since 2 days and is weak to. All he does is to lie down all day .
Poor Matou! There are so many things that can cause a decreased appetite and weakness like certain viral infections, respiratory infections, bladder infections, kidney or liver disease, cancer and much more. If cats go a few days without eating, they can actually get worse because their liver will start to shut down and they get really dehydrated. Since it has alresdy been two days, i would strongly recommend to have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to do a fecal, blood work and even X-rays if needed. Your vet will be able to get him on the proper meds and give him fluids if needed to help him feel better. You can try to entice him to eat with just plain chicken or tuna or different type of canned cat food. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon.

Whiskey is such a handsome cat! Look at those gorgeous eyes! I can understand being concerned about it, but anorexia is a very general sign of illness. It can be caused by dental problems, systemic illness, inflammation, infection, or injury. It's also concerning when a cat goes too long without eating (about 72 hours) as they will develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. It's best to avoid this, so I would try to tempt him to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones), and if he refuses to eat that, take him into the vet in the morning for a health check. Poos is experiencing very general symptoms of disease, these symptoms could fit almost any internal condition, maybe he is suffering from nausea due to a gastrointestinal disease and maybe he is in pain, from the symptoms described it's very hard to know. i would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible in order to get him checked, if he doesn't show any other obvious symptoms during the examination, a blood test and possibly an ultrasound will be needed in order to try and find out what is wrong with Poos.

You shouldn't wait more than 24 hours from her last decent meal, in cats unlike dogs for example, anorexia is always considered as a severe symptom that should be checked and treated ASAP because they can start developing a condition called "Fatty Liver" very soon after they stop eating and this can be very difficult to treat.

I’m sorry to hear about Sapphire! If she is not vomiting and is drinking water, you can try a dose or two of laxatone: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/tomlyn-laxatone-tuna-flavored-hairball-lubricant This helps with mild constipation, especially due to hairballs. You can also try ONE dose of miralax liquid (regular human strength. Give 1/4 tsp by mouth once. (If there are other things going on it could worsen dehydration so do NOT give more than one dose just in case). But the truth is, once Sapphire goes 24 hours without eating, it’s time to see the vet. At that point we have to consider something else like a fever, infection, injury, organ disease, toxin etc. Even if it is regular old constipation, an enema or stronger laxative may be needed. Do no under any circumstance try to give an enema to Sapphire at home. I hope this helps and best of luck to you and Sapphire!
