Why does my dog have small white bumps on his skin and act strange?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 7 years old | 35 lbs

My dog has a number of small white solid bumps on his body and on the inside of his ear flap on the skin not in the canal. He does not like them to be touched or messed with and he is just not acting himself.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I can see the bumps on Valentino's skin - they may be an early sign of a skin infection, small bug bites, or an allergic reaction (those bumps are usually larger and more itchy, though). I recommend having Valentino seen by a vet as soon as possible, as he may need antibiotics or medicated shampoo to cure the condition. I hope this helps and that all is well!
