My 7-month kitten is very sleepy and won't eat. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 6 months and 26 days old | 4.6 lbs

My 7 month kitten has lost his appetite. I’m hand feeding him chicken baby food and canned blue buffalo kitten food. He also is sleeping a lot and his personality has changed to a very inactive cat. He’s vaccinated on everything they can vaccinate for. He’s also an inside cat only.

I’m sorry to hear that Baggins isn’t feeling well. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Blood work will likely be recommended to help establish a diagnosis. Kidney disease, liver disease, intestinal obstruction, are all possibilities. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
