Can I give my dog human anxiety medication for thunderstorm anxiety?

You can always try over the counter remedies for anxiety before resorting to drugs. I usually start with the natural supplement Solliquin. It is effective for anxiety and I’ve never seen side effects. There are similar products sold also at PetCo. Taking your dog to a traing class with other dogs can often help them learn proper behavior, and will build their confidence which will decrease the anxiety. Sometimes no matter what we do they have a very difficult time with thunderstorms. I would first try the thundershirt, second try curbing his attention to something else while it is happening and if neither helps I would talk with your vet about medication.
