(This happened wednesday/ my cat died satueday) How quickly can a cat die from salmonella? My friend has an old dog that he gives raw eggs to. Recently he had his dog at my place and I saw my cat lick up some of the egg. Now he is vomiting and walking in immense pain. Can I give him antibiotics?

Salmonella poisoning can be lifethreatening for several reasons - the infection can spread to the rest of the body (sepsis) and result in severe dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea. If you believe that Furby is having any of these signs, he should be seen by a vet immediately for supportive care. He may need IV medications, and antibiotics depending on the bacterial infection (E. coli, Campylobacter, and Helicobacter can be to blame as well). I do not recommend giving Furby antibiotics for humans, as they may be toxic.
