What's the order for puppy shots, neutering, and dog licensing?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 40 lbs

We got a puppy from someone who has not had his shots or has a dog license he is about 6 months old… if we want to do the forever license do we have to get his shots 1st or does he need a license to get his shots? We also need to get him fixed but we are not sure what the order to do everything is

In order for Wyatt to be licensed, he needs to be up to date on his rabies vaccines and proof of him being neutered. He does not need a license though to get his shots. I would make an appointment with a local vet to get his rabies vaccine along with his DHPPi vaccine (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza), and get fixed as well. He will need a booster of both the rabies vaccine and DHPPi four weeks after the first in order to be fully vaccinated. Then you can get his licensed. Good luck, I hope this helps!

It looks like Shep has gotten two doses of a DHPPi combination shot, and a Neopar vaccine at five weeks, which would have had no effect on him (he was too young for it). He needs another DHPPi combination shot as well as rabies. The next DHPPi combination shot should be given four weeks after the last one, so it should be done 5/13/19. You can get his rabies vaccine done at 12 weeks of age. I hope this helps!

Hi there! Congratulations on your new pup :) He will need his first DAPP vaccine (for distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, and parainfluenza) at 8 weeks of age. This vaccine needs to be boostered every 3-4 weeks until he is 16 weeks or older. He will also need a rabies vaccine at 16 weeks. Additional vaccinations such as Lyme disease, leptospirosis, or Bordetella (kennel cough) may be recommended depending on what is common in your area and what your pup's risk of exposure is. Your veterinarian should be able to tell what else, if anything, would be recommended for Dallas. Dallas can be enrolled in a good puppy kindergarten class starting at 8 weeks, and can also be around healthy, vaccinated adult dogs. I would wait until after he's finished with his vaccinations at 16 weeks to take him to high-traffic areas where lots of strange dogs have been, such as pet stores, dog parks, etc. For medium to large breed dogs, it's best if they can finish growing before being neutered - this

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I would get puppies in by 8 weeks for thei first DHPP vaccines. Bring a stool sample. They will start them on heart worm and flea and tick medication. Your local township should have forms for licensing. Most people wait until their dogs receive their rabies vaccine and are spayed or neutered. Otherwise I’m not sure what you mean by registered. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Linus. Based on the information you have provided, it doesn't sound like he ever finished his puppy series. The distemper-parvo combination vaccine (DHPP) is typically given every 2-4 weeks until the puppy is at least 16 weeks of age. The "L" of that combination is leptospirosis. That takes two vaccines to complete the series so this is likely fine. He should have a bordetella vaccine and depending on his lifestyle, influenza. I hope this information helps!

I will be adopting a dog from a friend who's unable to take care of him but the only shots he's had are rabies and he's 19 weeks old so will he need 1 shot of the combo or 3 shots every 4 weeks
Since the puppy is getting a late start on the other vaccines, you will not need to do as many. The series of 4 is usually when the vaccines are started at 6-8 weeks and the immune system is just developing . I would recommend a series of 2 DHLPP vaccines with the injections being done 3 weeks apart. Your pup may also benefit from a kennel cough vaccine which can be done with the same schedule. Your puppy should also have been dewormed and it is time to start heartworm prevention, so getting him an appointment with your vet can get you started on all of these things he needs.

All dogs should have at least a rabies vaccine and distemper/parvovirus (DHPP) combination vaccine. If your dog has never had vaccines, he will need to be boosted with the distemper/parvovirus combination in 3-4 weeks. The rabies vaccine he gets will be a 1 year vaccine and next year he can get a 3 year booster. If there is a Petco/Vetco near you, then you can have him vaccinated there. A new puppy will need 3 rounds of the DHPP vaccine (distemper-hepatitis-parvovirus-parainfluenza) each round 3-4 weeks apart, and a Rabies virus vaccine given at 12-16 weeks depending on your state. Bordetella, Lyme, leptospirosis, and canine influenza vaccine are optional vaccines you and your veterinarian can decide to do based on Louie’s risk level and life style. I hope this helps!

Great question! At 40 days of age, Daisy is just over 5.5 weeks old, so she is not old enough for her first vaccines. Puppies should be at least 6-8 weeks of age, and I would wait at least another 4 days before giving her the first vaccine. She will need a DHPPi, which protects again distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza. She will need three series of the DHPPi vaccines each given four weeks apart. The schedule would be: 1st shot at 6 weeks of age, 2nd shot at 10 weeks of age, and final shot at 14 weeks of age. In terms of rabies, that should not be given until she is 12 weeks old, and she will need two of the rabies vaccine given four weeks apart. She should therefore get the first rabies vaccine at 12 weeks of age and the second at 16 weeks of age. She will need a booster of both DHPPi and rabies at a year old. The vet can discuss the schedule of boosters after that with you. I hope this helps!

It's great that you want to get your puppy up to date on his vaccines! He will likely need one set of vaccines as soon as possible, followed by a booster 3-4 weeks after that. Your vet may recommend another booster a month after that since he has not had his first round of vaccinations yet. He will then probably need vaccines again a year later. Vaccines that he will likely need include Canine Distemper Virus, Adenovirus-2, Parvovirus , Parainfluenza Virus and Leptospira (often administered in a combination vaccine called DAPPL to reduce the number of injections), Rabies, and Bordetella bronchiseptica (often called the "kennel cough" vaccine). Your vet may also recommend the Lyme and Canine Influenza vaccines, based on your location and your puppy's lifestyle. I also recommend having your puppy neutered and microchipped and signing him up for pet insurance. Lots of questions! By the way, Otis is so very cute. So I can say many vets do not recognize given by owners. This is because they often give them wrong, and/or the store where they got it stored the vaccine incorrectly leading to the vaccine being useless. Frankly, I would not count that vaccine, and start the series from the beginning. He needs the DHPPi combination vaccine, three shots each given four weeks apart. He can get that now, and the vet will schedule with you the next booster. He will be old enough for his first rabies vaccine at 12 weeks of age, and two vaccines will need to be given four weeks apart to incur immunity.
