My dog was hit by a car, is in pain, and won't move. Is his leg broken?

I think my dog may have been hit by a car but I don't know. I noticed that he was in pain but I didn't know why. He wouldn't get up and was whimpering. I then touched his leg and lower back and he cried. I don't know if his leg may be broken or something may be sprained but he barely moves and I noticed that he doesn't want to move his back legs or his lower back. Could his leg be broken??

I'm sorry to hear Dexter is injured! From what you describe It is definitely possible that he has a broken leg. He could also have a serious injury to his back or pelvis. I'd strongly recommend you take Dexter to see a veterinarian so he can be examined and the source of his pain can be determined. He will likely need prescription pain medications and may need X-rays to diagnose his issues. Please remember there are no safe over the counter pain medications for dogs so you will need to have these prescribed by a veterinarian. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I hope Dexter gets the care he needs so he gets pain relief soon!
