My new kitten is having seizures and losing weight. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

I got my kitten about 3 weeks ago and the first day I had her she was completely fine. She was covered in fleas from the person I got her from so I bathed her and got the fleas off. Then she got really lethargic. Wouldn't eat or drink. Sneezing. Wetting herself. Took her to the vet and got resp medication. She hasn't responded to the medication but has started eating and drinking again. But still seems like she is losing wgt and is now having seizures. After the seizures she is very affectionate.

If she is having seizures she needs to be rechecked to see what is causing them. It is good that she is eating and drinking again. I would worry about a toxin or neurological problem from her past that is affecting her health
