Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 18 lbs
My cat was fully shaved in about 2014 after a dog attack. He's fully recovered, but his fur only grew back about 1/4 of his original, full length. About two months ago, we treated him for cat scratch disease and suddenly, his fur has started getting longer. Like, it was stunted and now it's finally starting to grow the rest of the way. It's so crazy and I couldn't find anything online that would explain it. I'm really curious to know why this would happen.

In all likelihood, we are never going to know for sure why the hair stopped growing back in the first place, and why now it is suddenly getting longer. My best guess would be that one of or a combination of the medications being used to treat the cat scratch fever have increased some sort of hormone production in the body that is causing hair growth to increase. If you really want to investigate the matter more thoroughly, a veterinary dermatologist may be able to walk you through some more definitive reasoning behind what has happened. I'm just happy to here that Taters is getting his nice coat back to how it belongs. Hope this makes sense.
