Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 lbs

my female cat allie has a skin rash, and seems to be losing a bit of weight and chewing constantly on her scabs, rash is all over body, but she will not let it heal,i have had her for 7 yrs. do not know her age as she is a rescue cat.was wondering if this is normal, she had a rash once before healed after awhile and was checked by vet- said it was a mental thing- she has not been in contact with any other animal as she has not ever been outside in 7 yrs.

I am so sorry Allie is having this issue. I would recommend taking Allie to your veterinarian. If she has a rash all over her body and scabs she most likely has a skin infection and may need antibiotics to help heal her skin. I would talk to your veterinarian about behavioral medications if they feel it is behavioral. Until you can get Allie to a veterinarian I would recommend an elizabethan collar so she doesn't keep biting herself and making the lesions worse. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
