Dog shaking, yelping, weak, and had an accident. Is it a seizure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Male | unneutered | 10 lbs

This morning I was awaken to Timmy shaking and crying out of nowhere. I woke up and shut on the light to find a medium sized pile of poop (low runniness) and a little puddle of pee. He was lying on his side as he usually does but was making this horrible yelping noise and looked a bit like he was shaking. Like something was happening to him that he couldn't control. Right now, he is allowing us to carry him and is weak. He is not crying when we tried to feel around for what might be botheringhim

Hello. Sorry to hear this happened to Timmy. What you are describing is seizure activity. You need to get him to a vet as soon as possible for evaluation. Seizures can be caused by any number of underlying conditions - anything from epilepsy to a liver issue to a brain tumor. Some testing will be needed to figure this out. Here is a link to an article about seizures in dogs. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/seizures-general-for-dogs Hope this helps. Best wishes.
