My cat is sick, not eating, sleepy, but drinking. When to worry?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 4 days old | 5 lbs

Cats acting sick, not eating, very sleepy. But not throwing up and is still drinking. How long does he have? Can't afford to take him to the vet. :( He has an appointment on the 1st for his nurter

They often act like this when they are coming down with an illness. In the next day or two he may have signs of an upper respiratory infection (nasal/ocular discharge and sneezing), or gastrointestinal problems (vomiting or diarrhea). In this case you can try hand-feeding him some wet food by putting a little in his mouth at a time. Please note that the vet will not neuter him if he is sick, so if he is not better by the appointment time, then it would be best to take him for an exam by a vet instead.
