Should my 13-month Husky eat adult or puppy Taste of the Wild food?

which one is better, for a 13months old Siberian Husky? Taste Of Wild Adult Or Taste Of Wild Puppy I know adult one, but someone told me that the one for puppy is alot more nutritious as compared to the one for the adult, because the puppy one has to grow the pup, hence containing more proteins, and nutrients, while the one for the adult, has less nutrients, because the adult one just has ti maintain the dog's health, not to help him for better growth So which one should i prefer? At 13 months old, Magnus needs an adult food not a puppy food. The person who told you that puppy food has more protein is correct; it also has more calories and calcium which are needed to support a growing puppy. Once a dog reaches 12 months of age, then they do not need those extras and an adult food should be fed. I recommend the adult food for him. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It would be best to try to switch her food to another puppy brand. However, it is important to continue her on puppy food for at least another 2-3 months. This will let her grow appropriately as needed. You may try highly palatable kibble blends like the shredded blend diets from Purina Pro Plan or possibly canned food. Good luck and have a great day!

3 1/2 cups in three servings means a little bit more than one cup on each meal (3 times a day), if you have a puppy you definitely must feed him puppy food, not adult food, you should only switch to adult food after the age of 1 year.

Would you recommend the taste of the wild puppy food for an Alaskan malamute? We have switched to this food, and my malamute has been loving it.
No food is perfect for every pet but my patients on Taste of the Wild are doing well. If it is labeled for “growth and reproduction” or “all life stages” and if Sixx has normal stool, a shiny coat, and is gaining weight - it’s a good diet for him! Best of luck to you and Sixx!

Taste of the Wild is a great food, but it is what we call a premium food. Premium foods do not contain any fillers, so the food is more bio-available. What that means is that Luna will need to eat less of Taste of the Wild than Science Diet. Usually, I recommend starting on the low end of the feeding recommendation on the bag, but sometimes we have to go even lower than that depending on an individual dog's metabolism. Thank you for submitting your question! Personally, I do not recommend grain free foods very often. An extremely small percentage of dogs have true grain allergies and most of these dogs are Irish setters. Grain free diets are high in carbohydrates and typically lead to weight gain. I also prefer to feed a food labeled for puppies instead of all life stages. I feel it will better meet her needs as a growing dog. All that being said, the best diet is the one that works for your individual dog. She must like the food, have no vomiting and diarrhea on it and have a glossy hair coat. These are signs it is meeting her nutritional needs. As for her adult size, you can typically double her body weight at 16 weeks of age. This is typically when she received her last set of puppy vaccines. I hope this information helps!

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. Raider is quite the handsome dog! Especially for large breed dogs, it is OK to feed them a puppy food until they are 12-16 months old, as long as they are still active enough to not become overweight. Puppy food tends to be higher in calories than food formulated for adults. You can certainly stick with TOTW for his adult food, as long as it says on the bag that it is formulated for adult maintenance. To answer your question about the ideal calcium:phosphorus ratio- for dogs, the ideal ratio of Ca:Phos in dog food is between 1:1 and 2:1. I hope this is helpful!

There are various opinions about Taste of the Wild and I personally prefer not to feed it. Since your dog is still a puppy I would strongly recommend feeding one of the reputable scientifically computed brands such as Hill's Science Diet , Royal Canine or Iams. Feed a puppy feed suitable for the size and age and your puppy will have the best start in life. What you feed into Bruno now, will pay off later in that you will have a dog who developed and grew up to his best genetic potential without health issues caused by insufficient nutrition.

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco! I am a fan of Science Diet and Royal Canin. I think both of these commercial diets have well balanced formulations for Sharon. The adult large breed in Science Diet would be a good choice. I contribute longevity in animals to a good balanced diet. My previous dog, who lived to 20 years of age, was on Science Diet his entire life and he was happy and healthy for almost all 20 years. I hope this helps! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! His caloric intake for now will change as he will continue to grow and his needed caloric intake will continue to increase until he becomes an adult. For now it should be about 500 calories per day. However, this will continue to increase until he becomes an adult. You can monitor his growth and weight and when he has reached maturity then you can switch him to an adult dog food. Probably between 12 and 16 months of age. Gradually switch him to the new food as diet change can cause gastric upset. Too much protein should not make him hyperactive.
