My cat's third eyelid is still up after URI treatment. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 9.5 lbs

Abba had a terrible URI about 3 weeks ago. It lasted a long time. She was put on zythro and an antihistamine. After 4 days her congestion began opening. The zythro was for 10 days, and has been done for almost a week. My concern is her 2nd eyelids are still prevalent. Almost at half her eye. Yet she's eating drinking, breathing. Concerns?

It sounds like she may be improving. Some cats need to be antibiotics for longer than days. Since her third eye lids are still up, I would have your vet do a recheck on her. Your vet will be able to determine whether she needs additional antibiotics. She may also need some eye drops to help her. I hope this helps.
