My dog chewed an air freshener can. Is it toxic if she ingested it?

Aerosols can contain hydrocarbons which are volatile compounds that can cause stomach upset. If you think she ingested a large amount of the spray, I would take her to the vet now just in case. Otherwise, I would monitor her for any vomiting or diarrhea. If this happens, I would contact your vet at that point. If mild diarrhea is seen, you can try fasting her for about 12 hours, then start offering small frequent meals of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and rice. Most air fresheners aren’t toxic to dogs and I wouldn’t have any worries unless Bentley has chronic bronchitis, collapsing trachea or another airway disease. In this case you should avoid all air fresheners. Watch for coughing.

Unfortunately I can't find any information on whether or not Adaptil is harmful either. My feeling is that there is probably minimal concern, but it is hard to know how caustic or irritating the carrier agent for the Adaptil might be. I think your best bet would be to consult a toxicologist at animal poison control (link below). I do not think you have to worry much. Even if your dog had ingested some of the perfume, there is not enough alcohol to hurt her. However her sense of smell may be impaired for a few hours.

It can take several days for mothball toxicity symptoms to appear because they dissolve slowly in the stomach, and by the time the symptoms show, the dog is very sick.
