My 4-month-old puppy is lethargic. What are dog cold symptoms?

Just wondering what symptoms are for a dog cold. He's part border collie and husky. Hes very lethargic and usually is very playful. Hes 4 months old.

Symptoms of an upper respiratory infection typically include nasal discharge, sneezing, and coughing. If Hank is not feeling well, I recommend having him seen by a vet as soon as possible. Puppies are prone to viral and bacterial infections, intestinal parasites, and can decline rapidly if not treated appropriately. Is koda going to be ok? For the past week he’s been occasionally sneezing and he’s been kind of congested. So far today he has not been his energetic self,he’s been sleeping in the same spot generally all day
I'm so sorry to hear Koda is not feeling well. Being congested and sneezing could indicate he has an upper respiratory infection. Some of these dogs can cough/gag up a foamy white material as well. He could also be suffering from allergies. He will need to see his veterinarian if his symptoms persist, especially if his appetite decreases. In the meantime, let him rest and do not take him out and about in case he is infectious. Hope this helps!

It's most likely the illness that is causing her to act like this. It's common for puppies to get various upper respiratory infections at this age. She could have been perfectly normal last week, but she is definitely sick now, so I recommend a recheck by the veterinarian. Upper respiratory infections are often treatable and do not cause severe disease in pups, but there are a few scary diseases (i.e. Canine Distemper) that can start-out like this and become very serious later on. For this reason, I recommend scheduling an appointment with a vet in the next day or two. I hope that helps and Piper gets better soon.

My puppy is sleepy, has a runny nose, and a swollen lymph node. But her poop is solid and no other symptoms are showing for anything severe. Her nasal discharge isn’t colorful but she is congested. Is this just a cold?
It could be. As long as she continues to eat well and behave otherwise normally, I would keep an eye on her for a day or two. If she continues to be lethargic and congested beyond the next couple of days or her symptoms worsen, I would get her seen by your vet as soon as possible. If she is unvaccinated yet, there is the possibility that she was exposed to distemper or another virus.

Sneezing can be a sign of an upper respiratory infection or allergies in a young dog. Since you think his chest seems congested too I would recommend seeing a veterinarian for an exam. If he does have something like an upper respiratory infection and evidence of a bacterial infection your vet might prescribe antibiotics. Dark colored urine may not be a concern - it can be a sign of urine concentration. I'm not sure what a licking noise while sleeping is - puppies can get hiccups, or it might be related to the chest congestion.

Oh no, poor Ice! I'm sorry he's sick. This vomiting could be due to his respiratory infection if he's coughing a lot. I would have him seen by a vet for his symptoms. He may benefit from medications from the vet for his symptoms. If he's congested, you can put him in a room with a humidifier or take him into the bathroom with you when you take a shower. The steam from either may help temporarily with his congestion.

The nose of a dog is not used as an indication of illness. A dog's nose can change from cold and wet to warm and dry just by laying in the sun or sitting near a heat source. He may still be sleepy from his nap, and given that he just started this behavior, I would monitor him for now. If he's still lethargic in the morning, I would have him seen by a vet for a health check.

A high fever and lethargy should be addressed by your veterinarian. In a puppy this young they will want to rule out disease processes such as the Parvovirus, and will likely want to obtain some blood work. While it could be a simple cold, typically these do not cause high fevers. Antibiotic therapy may be required if there is an infection.
