My black cat has suddenly developed a red spot on his nose. It's not bleeding, I don't see inflammation. He is eating fine. The only change was a stainless steel bowl.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This looks very much like a traumatic injury to his nasal planum. When that layer of tissue becomes exposed like that, they can be more at risk of developing infections. For this reason, it would be indicated to have Boo evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to examine the area and potentially prescribe antibiotics to avoid an infection. Good luck and have a good night!
