Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Based on your description, Rome may be dealing with an infection (bacterial or viral). I would recommend having Rome examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Rome may need a course of an antibiotic to help treat this along with eye drops if there is evidence of infection in the eyes. If he is sleeping more than usual, he may be lethargic from the infection. I would make sure he is eating and drinking ok. If not, then I would have him seen sooner rather than later. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
