The puppy vaccines (Distemper, Parvo, Adenovirus2, Parainfluenza) are normally given every 2-4 weeks starting at 6-8 weeks of age, with the last vaccine given at 16-18 weeks. This usually amounts to a total of three vaccines for most scenarios. The Rabies vaccine is given first at four months of age, then a year later. The necessity for other vaccines (leptospirosis, Bordetella, etc.) will depend on the dog's environment. To help answer this question and give you more information, I've put a link to the vaccination guidelines below. wsava.org/sites/default/files/WSAVA%20Owner%20Breeder%20Guidelines%2014%20October%202015%20FINAL.pdf As always, I recommend the vaccines be given as directed by your veterinarian to ensure the vaccine is given appropriately and to ensure adequate support is available in case of a vaccine reaction. I hope that helps and all is well with Johnny.

Congratulations on your new puppy! Puppies need to be vaccinated for Distemper every 3-4 weeks until they are about 16 weeks of age. This vaccination also includes Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus and Parainfluenza. It is also recommended at the 16 week mark to get their Rabies vaccination. If your dog is at risk for Leptospirosis, Bordetella or Lyme I would talk to your veterinarian about these diseases to see if they typically vaccinate in your area. We always recommend Heartworm prevention in dogs. Heartworm disease is transmitted by mosquitos. It is a once monthly pill. We also always recommend flea and tick prevention monthly in dogs. Regarding intestinal parasites we always recommend general dewormers every few weeks for a puppy since most puppies are born with intestinal parasites. I also recommend a stool sample to make sure they don't have any and also if they do to make sure they are given the proper dewormer for that parasite. We recommend neutering at 6 months of age. This will prevent testicular and prostatic issues later in life. It can also help with aggression. Congratulations again! Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
