Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 months and 13 days old

I took my male cat for neuterin and he is in pain cause of an infection. I took him to the vet and gave him antibiotics now I have a course of drops and pills to give him. The infection near the cut turned purple now. I would like to know if it's a good sign or a bad sign

It looks like there is possibly an abscess that is about to rupture. If there is an abscess (pus pocket), then if you warm compress it for 5-10 minutes several times a day then it may drain soon, which will make him feel better. However, if it doesn’t drain or the swelling doesn’t improve in the next day or two then he should be seen again. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
