Why is my cat still in pain when picked up after cystitis meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years old | 11 lbs

My cat cries when picked up from the chest. Can't find the location of the pain (he doesn't complain when I poke him with my finger). He eats, drinks and goes to the litter fine. Vet gave me meds for cistitis but he still has pain after three weeks of meds.

You may want to consider taking him to your veterinarian for a recheck since Bimo has not improved after treatment for cystitis. Abdominal pain is possible, as is back pain or potentially neck pain. It can be difficult to determine where a cat is painful since they tend to be stoic during a physical examination, so if you still feel Bimo is painful you should bring up your concerns with your vet.
