My Chihuahua puppy has soft stool after switching wet to dry food.

My 10 month old Chihuahua stool has been REALLY soft , almost diarrhea now for the past couple of days. She was eating all wet food until I switched her over to all dry. She's a very very active little girl so that's why I had her on wet food , cause she's not getting totally satisfied with just her dry. I did mix a little dry with her wet and she would eat around the dry. PLEASE HELP !! Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 15 days old | 3.5 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She may be showing signs of dietary indiscretion which can happen from eating something that does not sit well in the stomach. This is likely given the recent change in diet. Clinical symptoms that can occur include inappetence, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. Sometimes this resolves on its own. However, sometimes this does require some form of therapy which is mostly supportive in nature. Since she has now developed soft stools to diarrhea, it would be good to switch her back to her previous diet. If she will not eat it, consider a sensitive stomach type diet. If the stools continue to be soft or they progress to diarrhea, I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!
