Is Bravecto safe for 9-week-old puppies with fleas, no vaccines?

I have 3 adult dogs , and 4 puppies that are around 9 weeks of age. They haven't had any Bravecto in a long time. We are starting to get fleas in our house. I am really scared. Please tell me, can the puppies take Bravecto, keep in mind they haven't got any vaccines yet. We are urgently awaiting your response.

Fleas can be the worst! According to the Bravecto website, it can be administered as early as eight weeks of age as long as the puppies are each at least 2kg in weight. It is safe to give to your adult dogs and puppies. You will also need to disinfect the environment in order to kill all the fleas. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear about Bella. Bravecto can be used in puppies under 6 months but it's considered off-label or extra-label use. Puppies under 6 months are now treated with Bravecto for demodectic mange so it's safe. Just make sure you use the correct dose for her current weight. Here's part of a thread I copied from a veterinarian only peer-reviewed site- Bravecto should be safe to use, as would be Simparica or Nexgard. Nexgard is labelled for puppies 8 weeks or older, but with either of these drugs you would be using it off label based on using it for treatment of demodicosis, as well as based on the dog's body weight and/or age. If I were to use one of these products, I would go monthly with either Nexgard or Simparica, and every 2 months with Bravecto for this little guy. Another option is Advantage multi even though the dog is not quite 3 lbs - use every 10 days topically. This is a labelled option though not as effective as the off la

Can I give Bravecto approximately two weeks after applying frontline to my dogs? Their fleas came back with a vengeance after applying the frontline and they are miserable
Yes, you can give bravecto. However, in addition to giving this medication, you will likely need to treat your environment for fleas as well. This can be achieved by spraying your yard and house with a flea insecticide and washing her bedding and clothing at least 2-3 times weekly. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Hi there. Yes, Bravecto is an excellent product - it's extremely safe, and very effective. It's the main flea medication that we use at my clinics, and what I am currently using for my own three dogs. In terms of side effects, we occasionally have clients report some mild lethargy or stomach upset for a day or two after giving it, but most dogs have no side effects at all. Nexgard or Credelio would also be reasonable choices.

It sounds like Marley may be sick. Bravecto will kill ticks but if she is not feeling well, there is a high likelihood this medication will make her feel worse. We generally wait to give flea prevention to pets until they are feeling better. Additionally, you note that Marley only weighs 15 pounds but is a German Shepherd. This leads me to believe she is a puppy. Bravecto is not recommended in puppies as they will outgrow the weight range quickly. Instead you use a monthly product like Nexgard. I recommend to take her into your veterinarian today if possible. Depending on where you live, ticks can transmit many diseases and she may go on an antibiotic prophylactically. Drinking a lot of water can be a sign of a kidney or bladder infection as well. Large breed puppies however are prone to drink a lot of water and it’s not pathologic. I used Vectra 3D on my dog 9 days ago, but I don’t think it worked. Is it safe to give him a Bravecto chew now?
These are different drugs and do not negatively interact, so it's OK to give the Bravecto, but it may be unnecessary. Sometimes owners will still see fleas and ticks on their dogs, but they are dead. I recommend checking to see if they are truly alive before giving the Bravecto. Here is a way to get rid of fleas: Unfortunately fleas only hop on the body of your pet when they want to feed, then they hop off again and stay in your pet's environment. So you need to treat all pets in the household as well as the environment (which contains the fleas, their eggs and larvae). Flea treatment:  1) Get some flea medication such as a Flea spray or a spot on from a pet shop or your veterinarian and apply monthly 2) get flea powder, put some in your vacuum cleaner bag and vacuum your house and furniture and also non-carpeted areas frequently to remove flea larvae and eggs which live off house dust., Dispose of the bag in the trash outside. Hot-wash all the pet's bedding, If you do this diligently for a few months you will get rid of the fleas. Hello, sorry to hear about Brody. Bravecto has not been associated with any drug interactions, including any other topical flea medications. I would wait at least 2 weeks after your applied the Hearts medication before giving him the Bravecto. In addition to the extra flea preventative, you should also consider treating your environment for fleas. This includes washing bedding, vacuuming, and washing any clothing Brody may have direct contact with. This will hopefully reduce the flea burden in your environment to help you get control of the fleas. Only about 5% of the flea problem is what we see on our pets, the rest of the problem lies in our environment as eggs and immature life stages of fleas. When vacuuming, remember to not reuse the same vacuum bag. When spraying your environment with insecticide, remember to use products that are safe for pets and even then, if possible, remove them from the environment for 1-2 hours. Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Bella. If you just gave her topical flea medications, I would not give her Bravecto. It's not recommended to mix flea medications. Wait two weeks to see if the topical medication works, and if it doesn't then you can try the Bravecto. You also need to disinfect the environment. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. Best of luck.

Can you give an 11years old dog Bravetco, after having been on NexGard for a few months, but waiting a few days beyond the last treatment?
Yes, you can give Vicky Bravecto after having been on Nexguard for a few months. Bravecto and Nexguard are in the same class of medication, so just continue as you would with Nexguard for the first dose of Bravecto. I would wait at least two weeks after giving Nexguard before giving Bravecto.

What to use on a 7 week old puppy for fleas? Will be 8 weeks old in 3 days.
Revolution can be used on puppies 6 weeks of age and older, and there is no minimum weight requirement. At 7 weeks old, he can use Advantage II if the puppy weighs at least 3 pounds, or K9 Advantix II if he weighs at least 4 pounds. If you prefer a flea collar, the Seresto collar can be used on puppies at least 7 weeks of age or older. After he is eight weeks old, you can use Activyl, or Frontline Plus, as well as some of the newer oral flea control medications such as NexGard and Trifexis.
