My cat pees everywhere. Is it behavioral or medical? What can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 10 months old | 4.59 lbs

My cat has been peeing everywhere for a long time now. He pees in the litter box but also on the bed and rugs. I've taken him to the vet and none of their suggestions worked. I heard urinary food will cure him. How long does it usually take for him to get better and stop peeing everywhere once he starts eating that? How do I know if his peeing is a behavioral problem and not medical? If it's behavioral what can I do to stop him from peeing everywhere? I've found crystals and gels in his pee b4.

Sorry! I’d suggest the S/O calm for stress relief. I’d also recommend starting Prozac and confining Gordon for 3 weeks. Clean all soiled areas with Nature’s Miracle and throw away rugs. Use Feliway diffusers in the room he’s confined in and his favorite spot. Use aluminum foil in previously soiled areas or prevent him from going in those rooms. Medical causes can become behavioral problems if they go on long enough. I hope this helps and good luck!
