My cat has ringworm. How can I treat the skin spots and scabs?

Hi my name is Zeno, I have a signees cat that recently started to get spots above his eyes between his ears and his eyes, and found out that it is ringworm, the Open moon looks reddish and is starting to get a scab on the top I would like to apply some kind of ointment to stop the ringworm and heal his wounds, this has been starting for maybe 4 to 5 or six weeks now and I am now applying benzalkonium Chlorine spray , Your help would be greatly appreciated thank you Zeno

Hello, and thank you for your question. Ringworm can be very stubborn to treat in cats and requires both oral medication and topical baths, often for several months until the ringworm is cleared from the cat and the environment. Unfortunately a benzalkonium chlorine spray will have no effect on ringworm. The only thing I could suggest at home would be a topical antibiotic cream that may help to treat any secondary bacterial infection. Besides that, I would highly advise seeing a veterinarian for more definitive treatment for the ringworm. I hope this helps, and that Smoky is feeling better soon!
