Why is my cat sick, losing weight & fur, but still eating & drinking?

Question

My cat has been getting sick a lot recently and she has loss a lot of weight. She is also losing her fur. But she still eating normally, and seems to drink a lot of water. I am trying to avoid stressing her out by taking her to the vet. So can you help me? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Based on your description, I would recommend having her blood tested to see if she has a systemic disease such as hyperthyroidism, kidney disease, diabetes, etc. Unfortunately, without a veterinarian examining her it is difficult to determine what the best course of treatment would be. If taking her to the vet is too stressful, why not look into having a mobile vet come to your house? This may prove to be a much better option than taking her in to a stressful clinic.
