Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 1 day old | 7 lbs
My 7 month old cat has been going through heat a few times in the last month or so. 2 days ago I noticed a flat, movable lump on her belly that is fairly noticeable in size. She is eating well and playful but I am not sure if this lump could be cancer. I've read mammary cancer is prevelant in older female cats but I am trying to find peace of mind before her vet appointment. Thank you.

Hello. While I cannot promise you that the lump is not cancer, it is very HIGHLY UNLIKELY that the lump is cancerous. She is just too young. There are lymph nodes in the abdomen that can enlarge possibly due to a local infection, possibly even during a heat cycle. So, do not worry too much. Take care.
