Why is my cat's ear pink and losing fur? Allergies or dry skin?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 lbs

My cat has been loosing fur on her right ear since yesterday today it is pink but not swollen or bright red. She is the only animal in the house and is not an outdoor cat at all. Still eating and drinking. Could this be allergies or from dry skin?

That is a very interesting pattern of hair loss. Allergies are possible, but I almost wonder if something was spilled on her ear? Like maybe a bit of hot coffee or something that irritated the skin enough to lose the hair a few days later? If the skin is red or has bumps or scabs then she should be seen when your veterinarian is open again. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
