My 7-week-old puppy has diarrhea but seems healthy. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 21 days old | 6.3 lbs

I have had Maia since Christmas Day and she has had Diarrhea since I brought her home. She is otherwise healthy and acts like a normal puppy she definitely has an appetite and drinks water like she should. She is playful and happy and does sleep a good bit but she's seven weeks old and I'm not sure if soft stool is normal or what I should do. She doesn't eat human food, I don't believe in that and she is a boxer. She loves her puppy food so I don't want to change it up on her unless I need to.

Puppies commonly have intestinal parasites that can cause diarrhea. Many of these are microscopic and not visible in the poop. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Please take a fresh poop sample with you to your appointment. At this time they will probably start vaccinations as well. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
