Why does my cat have a red spot on her foot and what should I do?

My cat got a little red spot on her foot. We cannot figure out the cause of it.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may represent mild inflammation secondary to a mild infection for instance. It could also be due to some form of mild trauma. At least in the pictures, it looks very mild. If it does not improve on its own after a week or so, have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment.
