Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 10 years and 7 months old | 12 lbs
Hi there. My dog's right ear is very irritated. She has really dark wax and it looks extremely dry and pink. I just noticed this after I bathed her and she keeps scratching her ear and it seems to bother her. She seems to always scratch that ear and the other is completely fine. Could it be an infection or allergies?

I would definitely be suspicious of an ear infection from the pictures and what you are describing. Ear infections usually have a primary cause that allows it to be infected and allergies are at the top of the list, so this is definitely possible, but both ears would be affected. Other common primary causes are something stuck in the ear and excessive moisture in the ear. It's best to have her evaluated by a veterinarian, so they can have a good look in the ear and provide the necessary medication to clear this up. For now, it will be good to gently flush the ear once every two day to help remove the debris from the ear - this will also help with treating the suspected infection.
