My cat's neck spot is darkening. Is it a sun spot or health concern?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Sphynx | Male | neutered | 4 years and 2 months old | 7 lbs

Mewtwo has a small spot on his neck. He has had the spot for several years if not forever. It seems that the spot is getting darker.. does anyone know if this is just a sun spot or maybe something of more concern? It does not seem to bother him at all it’s just something I notice.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I can see a flat, dark brown spot on Mewtwo's neck. It is somewhat concerning that the spot has gotten darker, so you should definitely keep an eye on it and have it checked out if it gets bigger or starts bleeding. Your vet can either remove the spot completely or take a needle and collect some cells from the area to send off to a lab. I hope this helps!
