What are these hard lumps on my 1-year-old cat? Are they dangerous?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 8 lbs

My cat is around 1 years old, and he has a hard lump about the size of a quarter on his abdomen near his hind legs, and another lump about the size of a nickel on his ribs on his left side. I was just wondering what it could possibly be, and if it could be anything potentially dangerous. You wouldn't be able to tell they were there unless you were petting him, so I am unable to attach any photos.

Poor Rowdy! These could be swellings from an injury, a odd fungal infection, or even tumors. Since he is so young, if they are masses then they are most likely benign. If they are infected areas, he will likely need antibiotics or anti-fungals to make them go away. Since he is young, I would have your vet just take a look at them once. Your vet will be able to determine exactly what they are and if he needs any meds or if you should just watch them. I hope this helps!
