My cat has an infected wound with foul-smelling pus. Does he need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 12 lbs

Please please help me. My cat got hurt two days ago and a snot like consistency of possibly pus has came out of the wound, and is foul smelling. He is eating regularly, but I have sent this before. I have photos. Please help me and see if I really need to go to a vet for it. He has one close to his eye and one on top of his head.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes, I do think that Bramble should see a veterinarian as he will likely require local therapy if it is an abscess with drainage and cleaning as well as oral antibiotics. At the same time, your veterinarian can check his eyes to see if they are also affected and treat accordingly. Good luck!
