My cat is sick, not eating. When should I take her back to the vet?

You can try to entice his appetite with things like tuna, tuna water and chicken. Cats can only go so long without eating before developing liver issues, so we are always concerned when cats aren't eating. I would recommend Socks be re-evaluated by her veterinarian, have any further necessary testing done (xrays, bloodwork, ultrasound) to determine what the underlying cause for her issue is, and start any treatment that may be needed to help her feeling back on track. Not eating and lethargy indicate that she is very ill and potentially she may have organ malfunction (kidney, liver, pancreas, etc) causing her illness. She needs to have bloodwork (chemistry, CBC), urinalysis, and potentially radiographs to determine the underlying illness so that we know how best to treat her. Cats that refuse to eat can cause serious damage to their liver causing a condition called hepatic lipidosis, which is a fatty liver making them even sicker and can be fatal in and of itself. So it's best to either take her back to the vet or get a second opinion with another vet who will run the necessary tests to find out what is happening so that she gets properly treated, especially since the antibiotic resulted in no improvement with her. It sounds like testing hasn’t been done yet and the fluids and anti nausea meds haven’t helped. Cats cannot go very many days without eating and forcing them to eat can make things worse. A viral infection can cause an increase in temperature (fever) and lethargy. Upper respiratory infections like cat flu usually will also cause sneezing, nasal discharge and eye discharge. There are many other infections that could cause fever and lethargy as well. Antibiotics are also only necessary if there is a secondary bacterial infection. I think your first step will be to have a veterinarian examine your cat once they are available and determine what might be causing her illness. Until then I would recommend trying to encourage her to eat by offering canned foods and making sure she has plenty of water available.

If it is just related to the trip, she should start feeling better soon. If her appetite has not improved by tomorrow, let your veterinarian know as the other possibility would be that the antibiotics are causing her to lose her appetite which is a common side effect seen with some antibiotics. I recommend that you have Luchadora reevaluated by your veterinarian on Saturday for further assessment and treatment. Keep in mind that if she is not feeling well, they may not proceed with vaccines that day. You may take in a urine sample that day. Hello. Unfortunately, the symptoms you describe are pretty vague & can really fit with a lot of things. I do not know how much veterinary care is available in your country, or even what diseases are present, but it sounds like Poufpouf needs antibiotics at the least, & then have some diagnostic bloodwork done, too. This might include a complete blood count, serum chemistry analysis, urinalysis & tests for feline leukemia & aids. This is what I would recommend if you lived in the US.
