My cat's eye whites are brown/red, and she's vocal. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 7 lbs

The whites of my cats eye has become miscoloured, it is a strange mix of brown and red. She doesn't outwardly do much about it but she has become pretty vocal. She is not an outside cat by my choice but she seems to somehow escape quite frequently, so she has access to germs outside. Please help and thank you in advance

Hi there and thank you for posting this picture. The whites of the eyes, or sclera, look to me like some normal age related pigmentation changes. I am not overly concerned by what I see in the picture. However, pictures are never as good as hands on examination. I would encourage you to have Vriska examined by your veterinarian. I do not feel this is an emergency and a routine appointment would be appropriate. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
