Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 3 days old | 10 lbs

I have a 7wk old blue/red nose pit puppy. I got her 3days ago. next day I fed her & all was fine but she kept scratching her leg In a certain spot. last night I seen the hair in the little spot was gone and there was a sore type thing on it. felt like maybe 3 little bumps So today I got home and picked her up and her sore had got alot bigger and is just blood red. I know it bothers her because she scratches at it even if I try to keep her from it. Im very woried about her.i hope it's not serious

Young dogs with skin abnormalities are often either mites or skin infections. Since this seems to be spreading fast I am most concerned about skin infection. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by a veterinarian soon. In the meantime bathing in a shampoo that has either chlorhexidine or salicylic acid may be helpful. Be sure to rinse well. These shampoos can usually be purchased in the human shampoo aisle in the “dandruff “ section. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
