How much omega 3 for my 11lb dog with dry skin? Is 300mg too much?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 9 months and 20 days old | 15.6 lbs

I want to add an omega 3 supplement for my dog's dry skin, but how much should I give her based on her weight (11 lbs)? The bottle says 300 mg, but I thought she might need less since she's so small.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Most bottles of omega3 vitamins for dogs will have instructions on how many tablets or capsules to give based on your dogs weight. I recommend not giving products labeled for humans as these will likely be too high of a dose. I hope this helps!
