Why does my dog have weird tummy sores after neutering and shaving?

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. With the symptoms you are describing, this could be what we call a mild case of puppy pyoderma. I would recommend bathing with a shampoo such as Douxo PS chlorhexidine combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved. I would also recommend starting malacetic conditioning spray 2 to 3 times per day until resolved. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could actually be a normal anatomical structure that you perhaps had not seen before. You can check to see if it is in the other side as well. If there is something similar on the other side then that makes it more likely to be a normal finding. Otherwise it could be a benign or malignant growth. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I suspect that this is likely unrelated to the neuter per se and this is likely due to an itch possibly secondary to allergies for example or perhaps there may be an infection going on. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I highly recommend you take him to your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for this and start therapy accordingly. Poor girl, that doesn't look very comfortable. I'd recommend wiping the areas of with hydrogen peroxide once (avoiding the incision for her spay), and then putting her in a baby onsie (maybe two) in addition to an e-collar. The onsie is to protect her a skin if she tries to scratch. If it's looking worse instead of better after 24 hours, I'd recommend taking her back to the vet to see if she need antibiotics. Itching or licking damages skin, which allows normal bacteria on the surface to set up a mild infection, and sometimes the immune system can clear it up if the itching stops, but sometimes oral or topical medications are required.

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! I can see that Noyb has some redness and scratches in the groin area. This can be caused by an infection, either with bacteria or a fungus. I recommend having Noyb looked at by a vet, to rule out any underlying causes such as a hormonal imbalance, nutritional issue, or a food sensitivity. Your vet can prescribe a different diet to try, oral antibiotics, and some medicated wipes. In the meantime, you can get your dog an E-collar or "cone" to prevent him from licking the area and making the condition worse.

It sounds like he could have a bacterial skin infection and may need an antibiotic. Have your vet take a look at him to determine the cause and prescribe medications to treat. He may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and/or corticosteroid to help. You could aslo bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo, like Epi-soothe, to see if that helps.

Hi and thank you for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to see that Finn is having this problem. I see lesions or spots like this occasionally on dogs in the same areas. Most of the time these spots resolve without treatment but most of the cases I have seen are much more mild with fewer spots. I always wonder whether these are related to some kind of insect sting/spider bites, contact irritation from something in the environment, etc. Some of these lesions or spots can resemble small areas of hemorrhage too which could indicate blood clotting disorders and those causes can be numerous. I would advise your veterinarian evaluate these since Finn has a lot of them. I think that if he is acting completely normal you could monitor this and see if they resolve. So if he acts normal, eats, drinks, uses the bathroom normally you could just see if they resolve. If anything is different, he should be evaluated immediately. I would recommend Oscar be seen by his veterinarian to have this evaluated further. He may need topical or oral antibiotics or other medications as needed. I hope this helps!
