My puppy ate a toy, vomiting & diarrhea. When should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 28 days old

my 6 month old mini schnauzer ate something at my mom's (she thinks it was part of a pink dog toy) She hasn't eaten in 48+ hours. She is drinking water but not much and is vomiting clear and yellowish liquid, she's had diarrhea the last 48 hours but nothing so far this morning. her energy level isn't normal but she is walking around and moving. her stomach is not distended and doesn't feel hard. she is not whining like she is in pain but she definitely isn't her usual active self

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Based on your description, I would highly recommend getting arya in to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. I am concerned thay she is going to become very dehydrated if ahe hasn't already. I would recommend having her tested for parvo virus given her age, even if she is fully vaccinated. Blood work would also be recommended along with abdominal x-rays. She may also have pancreatitis from eating something she shouldn't have eaten. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
