Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 lbs

I'm not sure if my cat had an allergy to the flea and tick topical treatment i put on him, or if he has severe food allergies, but a day or two after I put sergeants on him he falling on his side and biting his side til he bleeds. Don't know if it's seizures or allergies, but they only last for about 6-7 seconds then he seems ok, so I wash his wound with warm water then he'll go hide in the closet for hours, but he comes out to eat and drink water every couple hours. What can I do for him?

Reactions are common with that brand of medicine for cats. The best thing to do is wash as much off as possible. He is likely hiding due to anxiety and being scared from the reaction he is having. It does not sound like a seizure at this point but that does not mean it cannot lead to that. If this still continues for 24 hours after you get it washed off, I would schedule a visit with your vet for further treatments
