Cat threw up clear liquid after neuter. Is this normal, what's next?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old

Good morning! It's been a bout an hour since my cat neutering, and he just threw up clear liquid? Is this normal? And what should I expect today? Thank you for your hard work!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Felix! If he was just neutered he likely vomited from the anesthetic drugs. I would keep him in a warm, secluded spot and do not feed him for 6 hours. Then only feed 1/2 his normal food. He should be normal and be fed his normal volume at the 24 hour mark. Consult your Vet if he continues to vomit. I hope this helps and I wish you and Felix the best!
