My cat's eye isn't blinking after a past injury, what's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siberian | Female | unspayed

I've noticed my cat's left eye doesn't blink, even when I go near it, unlike the right one..there was a time, about a month ago, when he injured that eye by running into something and it got really swollen but was normal the next day; he visited the vet just a week ago and vet said hes perfectly healthy and got vaccinated, I noticed his eye afterwards, would it have to do?!.... BTW he is always purring why is that?!. Thanks.

If she does not blink it may due to an injury either of the facial nerve or possibly the retina/optic nerve may be damaged as well. That could be easily assessed by a neurological and ophthalmological examination, testing the cranial cranial nerves I mentioned above. I would recommend to have her referred to a neurology specialist in your area.
