My male dog is in pain, touching his penis. Is it a urinary issue?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 9 years and 1 month old

Myles my Jack Russell has cured a couple of times when he walks and goes towards his penis then lies down on his belly in pain then stops then runs again in pain he's ate his dinner and gone for a poo what could be wrong with him

This sounds like a urinary infection or a prostate problem. If he’s having trouble urinating this is an emergency as he could die if there is a urinary blockage. Regardless with the pain and crying I recommend a veterinary exam soon. They will run a urinalysis and check his prostate for enlargement. They may run blood work and do an abdominal X-ray to check for bladder stones and the size of his prostate. If it’s an infection they will prescribe antibiotics.
